Additional Occupational Services

Pen Y Lôn specialise in Ergonomic Workplace Assessments carried out by trained Occupational Physiotherapists with ACPOHE accreditation. The focus of Ergonomic Workplace Assessment is the Risk Assessment of tasks within a job role, safety of workplace design, use of suitable aids and equipment and capability of individual employees to perform a specific role at any given time.

As well as limiting the risk of litigation caused by poor work area design or inappropriate staff allocation, at Pen Y Lôn we always aim to provide useful recommendations that genuinely make a difference to both the safety and efficiency of a job role.  Sometimes the smallest and seeminglyobvious changes cost nothing and yet make the biggest difference.

Each client has individual ergonomic needs and by far the best way to evaluate the quality and value of Pen Y Lôn’s Ergonomic Assessment service is to commission an assessment.

Pen Y Lôn are not associated with any product supplier.  Our product recomendations are made purely on the basis of the most appropriate to meet your needs.  We would always recommend that clients purchase products direct from the supplier to minimise unnecessary mark-up costs.

For any employee using a computer (or other display device) for more than one hour/day a DSE assessment is required by the HSE.Pen Y Lôn offer a tiered DSE service giving clients the option to carry out standard DSE assessments in-house (recommended) but with the 2nd line support of our specialist Occupational Physiotherapist for training, support and guidance.

For complex cases clients also have the opportunity to refer to Pen Y Lôn for Desk Based Ergonomic Workplace Assessment.

Please contact us for information on DSE services.

Seated posture & injury prevention training has been developed to complement and add to the effectiveness of DSE assessment programmes.  There can be a tendancy for DSE Assessment to be a ‘tick-box’ exercise without employees gaining a real understanding of what causes injuries and how they can be prevented.  Typical examples may include incorrect use of equipment such as arm and wrist wrests, chair positioning and static postures.  The course will give each employee the knowledge to self risk assess daily to ensure they optimise their posture for comfort and injury prevention.Bespoke courses are also available for specific seated roles such as ‘Postural Guidance for Musicians and teachers’

Shop Floor Posture and Injury Prevention (Manufacturing) has been developed to complement shop-floor Ergonomic Assessment and Production Line Postural Assessment. Many shop floor tasks include repetitive movements, static postures and prolonged awkward postures all of which increase the risk of injury.

The course educates employees about basic anatomy, common causes of injury in the production line environment and offers guidance on ‘in-work’ exercises and stretches as well as application of good posture.
